In the past two months, authorities have recorded 13 criminal cases linked to the shooting of over fifty Ukrainian soldiers by occupying forces.

During a broadcast on "Suspilne," Taras Semkiw, the deputy head of the department for combating crimes committed in the context of armed conflict at the Office of the Prosecutor General, shared this information.
В последние два месяца правоохранительные органы открыли 13 уголовных дел по факту расстрела оккупантами свыше 50 украинских воинов.

In October and November of this year, law enforcement registered 13 criminal cases related to the execution of 54 Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russians. This accounts for about one-third of the total number of cases initiated in 2024 regarding such incidents.

Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed in Armed Conflict at the Office of the Prosecutor General Taras Semkiiv reported this during a broadcast on “Suspilne.”

Execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war near Ugledar

“According to our data, at least 20 individuals were executed. However, this crime remains latent. We do not yet have complete information regarding the execution of our servicemen. It is evident that the total number may be higher,” he added.

Currently, law enforcement is investigating 53 criminal cases concerning the execution of 177 Ukrainian defenders. The vast majority of these were registered this year – 37 criminal cases involving the execution of 109 individuals.

“It is clear that there is an increase in the number of such cases. This is occurring across all fronts. We understand which units are involved in this,” Semkiiv noted.

He also clarified that four criminal cases have already been initiated regarding the execution of Ukrainian servicemen in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

As a reminder, near the city of Ugledar in the Donetsk region, Russian troops executed five Ukrainian prisoners of war in October of this year.
