В ООН признают Зеленского законным президентом.

The United Nations regards the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, as the legitimate head of state.

This was stated by the representative of the UN Secretary-General Stefan Dujarric, as reported by DW.

Thus, the UN responded to the recent remarks made by US President Donald Trump, who labeled Zelensky a dictator due to the lack of elections in Ukraine amid martial law.

“Zelensky assumed office after properly conducted elections,” Dujarric stated.

Journalists also inquired about who is responsible for the start of the war in Ukraine, since Trump, following the initiation of negotiations with the Russian Federation, made a statement shifting the blame onto Ukraine. In response, Dujarric emphasized that it concerns “the invasion of Russia into Ukraine.”

Zelensky's presidential term was supposed to end last year, and this situation is actively exploited by Russian propaganda. All Ukrainian political forces soon after the full-scale invasion reached an agreement to hold elections only after the war.

At the same time, during the ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian authorities conducted so-called “presidential elections” with widespread falsifications. This was particularly done in the occupied Ukrainian territories, rendering the entire process illegal and Putin illegitimate.

The PACE recognized the Putin regime as a dictatorship that threatens peace, while the repressions by the authorities in the Russian Federation have reached levels reminiscent of the Soviet era.

It is worth noting that several senators and congressmen in the US criticized Trump's new rhetoric regarding Ukraine. Additionally, around thirty Ukrainian human rights organizations, including the Human Rights Center ZMINA, condemned the US-Russia negotiations without Ukraine's involvement.
