As a result of shelling by Russian forces on the night of January 16, civilians were killed and injured in the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions, while energy infrastructure was damaged in Poltava.

The work of air defense was heard in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions.
In Kherson region, Antonovka was once again under enemy fire. As a result, a 37-year-old man died, and another 33-year-old civilian was hospitalized with shrapnel injuries and a head contusion. Additionally, in the morning, a 92-year-old woman approached medical staff after being injured due to Russian shelling of Yantarny.
Moreover, a civilian who sustained serious injuries the day before died in the hospital.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, Nikopol came under Russian attack. A woman was killed, her body was found under the rubble, and another man with injuries was taken to the hospital.
In Poltava region, there were no casualties or injuries among civilians. However, the energy infrastructure was damaged, leaving three hundred households without electricity in the region.
