As a result of shelling by Russian military forces on the night of October 28, at least 21 civilians were injured in Kharkiv.

This information was reported by the State Emergency Service.

In the evening and overnight, Russian forces struck the Shevchenkivskyi, Saltivskyi, and Holodna Hora districts of Kharkiv, as well as Chuhuiv in the region.

In Kharkiv, a guided bomb hit near a residential nine-story building. Consequently, it damaged the ceiling between the eighth and ninth floors and destroyed three apartments, while also damaging over two dozen civilian homes and four cars nearby.

Among the injured were five children. Initially, officials reported only seven wounded, but the number significantly increased overnight.

In response to the violation of the laws and customs of war, investigators have initiated a criminal case.

It is worth noting that September 2024 became the month with the highest number of civilian casualties during the ongoing large-scale war. Prior to this, the highest number of deaths and injuries was recorded in the summer of 2024. Over the course of three months, their numbers increased by 45% compared to the same period before.

Among the reasons cited for the rise in casualties is the use of explosive weapons with a wide radius of impact in populated areas by the Russian Federation, such as guided bombs.
