Russian security forces have closed the criminal case regarding the “terrorism” of two teenagers, Tigran Oganisyan and Nikita Khanganova, who were killed last year, and their bodies were likely buried in secret in the summer of 2024.
This information was reported by the “Radio Free Europe” project “News of the Azov Region,” citing the family lawyer of Tigran, Andrey Yakovlev.
Tigran Oganisyan and Nikita KhanganovaAccording to the lawyer, the occupiers have closed the case of Oganisyan and Khanganova under non-rehabilitating circumstances, without further investigation.
“They (in the Russian Federation – Ed.) have a rule that under such circumstances, they do not return the bodies to the relatives and bury them secretly. However, this was not an official act where they could inform the relatives that the bodies are indeed in such graves. They officially state that due to their legislation, burial is not provided for. But Berdyansk is a small town, and there is no reason to doubt that they were buried,” the lawyer explained.
Previously, ZMINA reported that the occupying authorities of Berdyansk want to organize a secret burial of the teenagers in an unmarked grave.
This information was also confirmed by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, who appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross to fulfill its mandate. Lubinets mentioned that the occupiers refuse to return the bodies to the relatives or to the Ukrainian side. This contradicts the norms of International Humanitarian Law and the Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949, which states that parties in conflict must facilitate the return of remains if requested by the opposing side or the relatives of the deceased.
Recall that the murder of the two pro-Ukrainian teenagers, Tigran Oganisyan and Nikita Khanganova, became known last year from reports by the occupying authorities of Berdyansk. According to the MIHHR, they were killed by Russian snipers.
Prior to this, the boys were detained for “anti-Russian activities.” At that time, the Russians planned a trial against the teenagers, who faced 20 years in prison. Russian investigators were preparing the case for court, accusing the teenagers of plotting a sabotage.
