Russia may initiate a war against NATO countries as early as next year.
This was revealed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with journalists at the Munich Security Conference.
According to him, the Russian Federation is preparing 15 divisions to train and bolster the situation on the Belarusian front.
“We believe that they will all be located in Belarus, or partially. This will involve 100,000 to 150,000 personnel. And I am not certain that this group will move into Ukraine,” Zelensky stated.
Reports about the formation of Russian forces in Belarus for a potential attack have periodically surfaced throughout the ongoing full-scale Russian invasion. In February of this year, as reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, there were not enough troops in Belarus to launch an attack on Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the Putin regime in Russia is regarded by the EU as a dictatorship that poses a threat to global peace.
Last year, a minister in Sweden urged citizens to prepare for war. Prior to that, the Commander of the Dutch Army, Martin Wijnen, who retired in 2024, called on society to prepare for war with the Russians.
In the past three years, Russian drones and other munitions have repeatedly struck the territories of NATO member states.
Against this backdrop, Lithuania withdrew from the convention banning cluster munitions. The country was the only one on NATO's eastern flank that had ratified the document.
