Mashkov is part of the Kremlin's propagandist pool and frequently participates in mass rallies supporting the full-scale war against Ukraine. In December 2023, he was appointed co-chair of Vladimir Putin's "election headquarters" for the presidential elections in Russia, as noted by the SBU.

Following his appointment, Mashkov traveled across Russia and the occupied regions of Ukraine, where he promoted the war and glorified the Russian army. During "concert-rallies," the actor called for the continuation of missile and bomb strikes on civilian infrastructure.

Mashkov was found guilty under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine – part 2 of article 110;
  • Promotion of war – article 436.

It is worth noting that in May 2023, Mashkov was notified of suspicion due to justifying Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

Since 2022, the Russian propagandist has been under sanctions from the European Union, Canada, Ukraine, and Switzerland for supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Earlier, ZMINA reported that President Vladimir Zelensky enacted a decision by the National Security and Defense Council regarding the implementation of personal special economic and other restrictive measures.
