On December 2, the Krasnodar Regional Court in Russia sentenced a resident of Yalta to 14 years in a strict regime colony, finding him guilty of “treason.”
This was reported by the unified press service of the region's courts.
Screenshot from the videoThe name of the convicted individual has not been disclosed. According to the investigation, the man opposes the conduct of the “special military operation.”
“In January 2024, while being in close proximity to the international airport in Sochi, he (the convicted individual – Ed.) observed the takeoff of the aviation radar surveillance and guidance complex. Understanding that such information could be of interest to Ukrainian intelligence services, he transmitted details about the timing and location of the complex’s takeoff with the intent of its targeted destruction,” the court's statement reads.
The individual was charged with “treason” (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime correctional colony with an additional one-year restriction of freedom.
It is worth noting that at the end of November, the so-called Zaporizhzhia Regional Court, located in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, sentenced local resident Lyubov Voynova to 14 years in prison. The 49-year-old woman was accused of “treason.”
Additionally, it should be emphasized that alongside “espionage,” “terrorist activities,” and “collaboration with Ukrainian intelligence services,” the charge of “treason” is one of the methods used by the Russian Federation’s planned policy in the occupied Ukrainian territories, particularly in Crimea.
Only in November of this year, a member of the Novokakhovka City Council, head of a dacha community Igor Protokovila, and Maxim Makhno and Sergey Tkachenko were imprisoned on charges of alleged espionage.
