The advancement of Crimean Tatar studies is a key priority for Ukraine, according to the President's representative in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

This was announced by Tamila Tashieva, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, during the third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform, as reported by the broadcaster "Suspilne Krym."

Ukraine is actively preparing for the reintegration of temporarily occupied territories, particularly the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. A comprehensive program is being developed to upgrade the infrastructure of the economy and social sphere, as well as to ensure the rights and freedoms of every citizen. A priority is, among other things, the advancement of Crimean Tatar studies.

This was announced by the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol Tamila Tasheva at the third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform, as reported by the broadcaster “Suspilne Krym”.

She emphasized that society must fight for the hearts and minds of people and spread the truth about Crimea and Crimean Tatars around the world.

“That is why the development of Crimean Tatar studies is one of our priorities. The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, announced the creation of a global coalition of Ukrainian studies, which includes Crimean Tatar studies. This is a step towards ensuring that Crimea's voice will be heard,” said Tasheva.

The Speaker of the National Council of Switzerland, Erik Nussbaumer, highlighted at the Third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform that parliamentarians play a crucial role in achieving sustainable peace and can contribute to this process in many ways, particularly through the adoption of legislation that will enhance support for Ukraine: “We affirm that the illegal occupation of Crimea and Russia's full-scale aggression is a violation of international law that must not be accepted by the international community.”

The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Kingdom of Tonga, Fatafehi Fakafanua, reminded that Tonga consistently votes for UN resolutions condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine, including resolutions on humanitarian issues. He emphasized the importance of a collective response to Russia's brutal actions against humanity and justice.

“Peace is not just the absence of conflict, but above all, it is the presence of justice, equality, and respect for international law and order,” he stated.

It should be noted that since June 25, the educational project “Speaking Crimean” has been airing on “Suspiine Krym.” According to the announcement, viewers of the program will be introduced to Crimea through the language of the indigenous people of Ukraine – the Crimean Tatars. The hosts of the project are journalist and former attaché of the Japanese embassy in Ukraine Takashi Hirano, editor Yevgenia Opekuno, and project manager Unitour Muslim Umierov.

In March 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution to introduce an award for special contributions to the development of the Crimean Tatar language.
