An independent fingerprint examination did not find any fingerprints of the participants in the case of the “first Djankoy group of Hizb ut-Tahrir” – Enver Kroshe, Vilen Temeryanov, Rinat Aliyev, or Edem Bekirov on the books seized during the searches.
This was stated to “Crimean Solidarity” by the lawyer for the Crimean Tatars, Emil Kurbedinov.
There are about ten fingerprints of other individuals on the books, but none from the defendants, the lawyer clarified.
The defendants believe that the investigation fabricated evidence in the case. They submitted a motion to the court requesting that it send statements for the examination of the material evidence to the Military Investigative Committee. However, “judge” Timur Mashukov denied this request and did not include the defense's examination in the case.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 19, where the parties will proceed to debates. The prosecution will be the first to present its case.
The criminal case against the “first Djankoy group of Hizb ut-Tahrir” began in August 2022. The defendants – Crimean Tatars Enver Kroshe, Rinat Aliyev, Murat Mustafaev, Seityagi Abbozov, Edem Bekirov, and civil journalist Vilen Temeryanov – were arrested in Djankoy. They are accused of participating in the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir. The organization is banned in Russia but operates freely under the laws of many countries around the world, including Ukraine.
The main “evidence” in the case is an audio recording of a conversation in a mosque from 2015. Kurbedinov is convinced that it was extracted from the FSB archives eight years later.
“All these years, these individuals were not prosecuted and posed no danger to society,” he stated.
During the investigation, lawyers and defendants were not given the opportunity to review the materials sent for examination. During this period, investigators failed to establish any plans by the defendants, the Crimean Tatar activists, to commit a terrorist act or any other violent actions.
Earlier, ZMINA reported that Crimean political prisoners in the case of the “first Bakhchisarai group of Hizb ut-Tahrir” – Remzi Memetov, Rustem Abiltarov, and Zevri Abseitov – were released from the Russian colony after serving their full sentence of nine years in prison.
