During February and March, an increase in prices for vegetables, dairy products, and bread is anticipated in the Ukrainian market. Several factors are simultaneously influencing the cost, particularly inflation.
Vegetable prices in Ukraine are expected to rise due to reduced stocks during the winter period. This was reported by Denis Marchuk, the deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, in a comment to "Hlavred".
Additionally, prices for bread and dairy products will increase due to inflation, seasonality, fuel excise taxes, and the ongoing war, particularly mobilization, during which there is a significant shortage of workers at enterprises. Producers are compelled to purchase equipment for their businesses, which impacts costs.
"These factors are decisive in shaping prices for the coming months, until we begin to receive fresh vegetables, fruits, and dairy products in the new season, the volumes of which will increase thanks to the 'big milk' season. Unfortunately, it is premature to talk about a decrease in prices. There may be temporary price drops, as we see currently with onions, carrots, or other vegetable groups. However, this will be short-lived. I believe that in a few weeks, this trend will cease, and the insufficient supply will begin to drive prices up again," he noted.
Marchuk predicts that food prices will rise by 10-15%, but not immediately. An increase of 1.5-2 or 3% is expected over the course of a month.
Recall that earlier "Telegraph" reported on whether Ukrainians should expect increases in two popular product categories in 2025.
