The situation in Syria continues to evolve rapidly following the capture of Aleppo by the rebels. Reports are emerging online that opponents of Bashar Assad have already been spotted in the city of Hama, while an attempted coup is underway in Damascus.

According to Israeli military analyst Igor Levin, on their way to Hama, fighters from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) faced minimal resistance from loyalist forces. Furthermore, videos have surfaced showing rebels already inside Hama.

Amidst this, local media reported that gunfire was heard in Damascus, where an attempted coup is reportedly taking place. As per Clash Reports, Assad's officials have stated that this information is inaccurate.

According to data from Liveuamap, Hama has already partially fallen into the hands of HTS. If the insurgents manage to control the city fully, Assad's forces will be left with only two major cities — Damascus and Homs.

Levin also reports that there are indications that the forces of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), stationed at the American base in Tanf in the south of the country, have also mobilized. However, it remains unclear whether they have joined the fighting or not.

In addition, there are reports that Moscow has dismissed Lieutenant General Sergey Kiselyov from his position as commander of its forces in Syria.

As is known, on the evening of November 27, it was reported that HTS militants launched a serious offensive on Syria's second-largest city — Aleppo. Apparently, they managed to catch Assad's forces off guard, as the city completely fell under the control of the rebels in just one day.

The Syrian army heavily relied on support from Russians, Iranians, and "Hezbollah," and without their assistance, it began to crumble.
