In January 2025, at least 13 civilians were killed and over thirty others injured in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, due to Russian shelling.

This was reported by the National Police.

Before the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, Pokrovsk had a population of over 60,000, but now only about 7,000 remain.

No safe areas are left in the settlement, as the front line is located just a few kilometers away, police officers say. Residents suffer daily from Russian strikes, with drones posing a particular threat.

The Russians are targeting police crews and civilian vehicles with UAVs.

The situation in Pokrovsk deteriorates each day, prompting locals to heed safety warnings and evacuate the city. Since the beginning of the large-scale war in the Donetsk region, the Russians have killed over 2,800 civilians and injured more than 6,300.

It is worth noting that in Myrnohrad, Donetsk region, around three thousand residents remain from a pre-war population of over 46,000.

Many towns and villages in the Donetsk region have ceased to exist due to destruction by Russian forces. Cities like Maryinka, Bakhmut, and Avdiivka are effectively non-existent now.
