There is misinformation circulating online regarding the discovery of three fire hotspots at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, as well as warnings about an alleged radiation release in the near future.

This information was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Firefighting at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was halted following a Russian drone strikeThere has been no deterioration in the radiation situation near the Chernobyl NPP; the situation is under control.

"We inform you that this information is not true. The operation to eliminate the consequences of the Russian drone attack continues at the Chernobyl NPP. Currently, the State Emergency Service is only recording three smoldering hotspots in the roof insulation, which were timely detected using drones equipped with thermal imagers,” the statement reads.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center is conducting constant monitoring of radiation levels, which remain within normal limits. There is no threat to the population, the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.

Recall that on the night of February 14, a Russian strike drone with a high-explosive warhead hit the shelter of the fourth reactor block at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, resulting in a fire and significant damage.

According to the President of Ukraine, the Russian drone was flying at an altitude of 85 meters and was not detected by radars.

This morning, it was reported that the radiation background is normal.
