This evening, February 1st, residents of Poltava experienced strong underground tremors resembling an earthquake. It has since been confirmed that an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.67 actually occurred in Poltava.
This information was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Initially, local social media outlets, including the publication "Suspilne," reported on the noticeable underground shocks. At that time, there were no details regarding potential consequences.
According to local residents, those living on the upper floors in Poltava felt the tremors, with some experiencing shaking furniture.
Subsequently, the Main Center for Special Monitoring revealed that the earthquake took place between Poltava and Reshetylivka today at 18:21. The tremors, measuring 3.67 in magnitude, were recorded at a depth of 3 km.
As a reminder, on February 1st, there were already 17 casualties in Poltava due to a Russian missile strike on a residential building. It has also been reported that the death toll has risen – a child has died.
Additionally, in the Poltava region, near a gas station, an unknown man shot a military conscription officer during an escort.
