On Saturday, January 25, relatives welcomed the Ukrainian sailors rescued from Yemeni captivity in Odessa. Their release was made possible thanks to an operation by the GUR MO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate.

As is known, the day before, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GUR of the Ministry of Defense conducted a joint operation to free three Ukrainian sailors held captive by the Houthis, who were on the Galaxy Leader vessel.
“I still can’t believe I’m home... I am very grateful to everyone involved, especially the representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate. They were the first to get in touch with us. After that conversation, there were no doubts or fears — they know about us, we will be returned,” said Vitaliy, one of the freed captives.
The meeting between the sailors and their families took place at the regional military-civil administration building.
“What happened today is the result of the coordinated long work of a large number of people. The special operation was carried out on the instruction of the President of Ukraine and thanks to the comprehensive support of the Royal Office of the Sultanate of Oman,” noted GUR MOU representative Olga Mosyondz.
It is worth mentioning that there were 25 crew members on board the seized Galaxy Leader vessel, including individuals from Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Philippines, and Mexico.
As is known, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is keeping the situation regarding the capture of the civilian vessel in the Red Sea under special control.
