On Thursday, February 13, Kyiv was enveloped in a cloud of smog accompanied by fog. Additionally, the air is hard to breathe, and there is a terrible odor outside.
This situation has been observed since the evening of February 12. Our correspondent reports on this.
The Kyiv City State Administration also reports on the air quality. It notes a significant deterioration in the air quality in the city due to increased concentrations of suspended particles, particularly dust. The cause of this phenomenon is the low wind conditions and elevated atmospheric pressure, which hinder the dispersion of harmful impurities.
The city authorities recommend that Kyiv residents close their windows, limit their time outdoors, and drink plenty of water. If an air purifier is available, it should be set to maximum.
According to data from the SaveEcoBot resource, pollution levels in the capital exceed the norm by 7 times.
The highest level of pollution was recorded on Kharkiv Highway, reaching 191 AQI PM2.5, which is considered harmful and can cause discomfort when breathing due to prolonged exposure. Specifically, high levels are noted across all areas of the left bank of Kyiv.
The situation is not better in the South Borshchahivka area, where air pollution levels reach 166 AQI PM2.5. A high index was also recorded in Vynohradar – 175 AQI PM2.5.
Conditions are more tolerable in the Pechersk district of the capital, with an average level of around 112 AQI PM2.5. Similar indices are observed in the city center.
Currently, the cleanest air is found in the Holosiivskyi district, where a moderate level of pollution is mostly observed.
Earlier, "Telegraph" reported on where in Kyiv the highest and lowest radiation levels are found. The radiation background in the city remains within normal limits.
