Budanov confirmed media reports that North Korea will send reinforcements to the Kursk region: according to him, these will mainly consist of missile and artillery troops, which typically operate hundreds of artillery systems and launch ballistic missiles.

“We do not expect to see many new ground combat units,” he stated.

Over the past three months, North Korea has supplied Russia with about 120 170-mm self-propelled artillery guns M1989 Koksan and 120 240-mm multiple launch rocket systems M-1991, and is likely to deliver at least as many in the future, the head of the GUR reported.

In addition to artillery, Pyongyang is expected to send another 150 short-range ballistic missiles KN-23 to Russia in 2025. Last year, 148 of these were delivered.

It is worth noting that, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, North Korea has already lost 4,000 of its military personnel in the battles in the Kursk region. This is approximately one-third of the entire contingent of North Korea present there.

In November, it was reported that North Korea had transferred to Russia at least 50 self-propelled artillery systems and 20 upgraded multiple launch rocket systems.

As of autumn, 60% of the shells fired by Russian troops were of North Korean manufacture.
