The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated an investigation regarding the disclosure of state secrets during a closed meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
This was reported by Suspilne.
The case is connected to a recent media publication claiming that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, allegedly warned members of parliament about threats to Ukraine's existence.
“On January 28, 2025, SBU investigators opened a criminal case concerning the disclosure of information that constitutes a state secret by individuals to whom this information was directly entrusted during a closed meeting classified as ‘secret’ of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” the SBU stated.
It is noted that the investigation is ongoing under the article concerning the disclosure of state secrets, which resulted in severe consequences (part 2 of article 328 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Recall that a few days ago, Ukrainska Pravda wrote that Budanov said in response to a question from one of the MPs that “if there are no serious negotiations before summer, very dangerous processes for the very existence of Ukraine could begin.” The GUR then stated that this information is not accurate.
Additionally, it became known yesterday that President Zelensky had a "lengthy conversation" with Budanov regarding the tasks and prospects for Ukraine, as well as “various scenarios.” Zelensky did not disclose further details.
