As a result of shelling by Russian forces on the evening of February 5, at least two civilians were killed in the Sumy region.

This was reported by the local military administration.

The Russians struck a two-story residential building. Currently, at least two fatalities have been confirmed, with their bodies discovered under the rubble. Efforts at the site are still ongoing, so the number of casualties may change.

Investigators have launched a criminal case under the article concerning violations of the laws and customs of war. Those responsible for the attack could face life imprisonment.

It is worth noting that last year, the number of civilian casualties from the Russian invasion of Ukraine rose by 30%, as calculated by the UN. One of the reasons for this increase is the active use of long-range weapons by Russian military forces, such as guided aerial bombs and drones.
