As a result of shelling by Russian troops on the night of January 30th, four civilians were killed in Sumy.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service.
The Russians targeted a multi-story building with a drone shortly after midnight.
At the scene, rescuers quickly set up a mobile assistance point, where psychologists and medical personnel are working. The material damage from the shelling includes the destruction of nine apartments and over ten balconies.
Photos released by the rescuers show significant damage to the building.
The bodies of the four deceased individuals were retrieved from the rubble, but search and rescue operations are ongoing. It is known that among the deceased are married couples.
Immediately after the strike, local officials also reported nine injured individuals, including a child and a teenager.
In Sumy region, January 30th and 31st have been declared Days of Mourning for the victims.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian military forces have killed 12,400 civilians in Ukraine, and injured over 28,000 people. Among the deceased are 669 children, and in just the first three quarters of this year, more minors have died or been injured than in all of 2023.
