The Verkhovna Rada has established a National Day of Prayer, which will be celebrated annually on February 24.

This was announced by member of the "Golos" faction, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, via Telegram.

Tax on childlessness and Thanksgiving: what strange initiatives are being proposed by MPs during the warMPs suggest celebrating Thanksgiving, introducing a tax on childlessness, and having prisoners pedal to generate electricity. The infographic showcases examples of unusual legislative proposals.

According to him, the resolution was supported by 255 members of parliament during a plenary session on Wednesday.

"The Rada approved resolution No. 12412 establishing a National Day of Prayer in Ukraine, which will be celebrated annually on February 24," Zheleznyak wrote.

He also mentioned that the Rada will hold a session on the National Day of Prayer, which will commence with the performance of Ukraine's spiritual anthem "God of Greatness, One."

It is important to note that, according to the bill's initiators, February 24 is symbolic for the Ukrainian people, as it marks the time when Ukraine "faced a severe challenge, provided a worthy response to the aggressor, maintained statehood, and demonstrated the strength and resilience of the Armed Forces."

The explanatory note to the bill states that the National Day of Prayer will symbolize the spiritual unity of the Ukrainian people, honor the heroism of Ukraine's defenders, and strengthen the moral and patriotic spirit of the nation.

Recall that the bill for the Day of Prayer was registered on the Rada's website on January 15. Approximately 40 members of parliament were its initiators. A similar initiative was presented in the Rada in 2023, when some MPs requested President Volodymyr Zelensky to introduce a daily "prayer for victory."
