The Republic of Moldova will not participate in Eurovision this year, but promises to return to the song contest in the future.
This decision was announced by the director of the Moldovan TV company TRM, Corneliu Durnescu, and the head of the Eurovision Moldova delegation, Daniela Crudu, during a press conference on January 22, as reported on the official contest website.

Corneliu Durnescu and Daniela Crudu explained that they made this decision “after a detailed analysis of the current situation, as well as economic, administrative, and artistic issues.”
Additionally, Moldova has canceled the Etapa Națională contest, which was used to select representatives for Eurovision.
“The decision was difficult, but necessary under the current circumstances. The current National Selection highlighted certain challenges, particularly the decrease in public interest and the overall quality of artistic performances. This fact has led to a negative perception among professionals and the public, emphasizing the need for significant reform of the selection process,” said Corneliu Durnescu.
TRM plans to revise the criteria and methodology for selection and encourage talented artists to participate.
Daniela Crudu added that Moldova will return to the Eurovision song contest.
Let us remind you that Ukrainians selected the last finalist for the national selection for Eurovision-2025. The final of the national selection will take place in February.
