Neither Ukraine nor Russia will achieve their maximalist goals during the war – both sides will have to make concessions.
This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with journalist Megyn Kelly.

He pointed out that both sides are paying a high price for the war and are interested in ending the conflict.
"This (war – ed.) will not end with the maximalist goals of either side, and significant and difficult work will need to be done. I believe that only the United States, under President Trump's leadership, can make this possible, but it won't be easy and will take some time. However, I know that he is definitely committed to making this happen,” Rubio said.
According to Rubio, the U.S. and Western countries made a mistake by allowing people to believe that Ukraine could defeat Russia and push it back to its status from 2012 or 2014.
It is worth noting that Rubio had previously stated that the war should be ended as soon as possible, and that both sides will have to make concessions.
He added that the U.S. aims to end the war in such a way that it does not recur in two, three, or four years.
