Who won’t receive rental subsidies among IDPs: the Pension Fund of Ukraine has outlined clear criteria.
Starting from January 29, internally displaced persons (IDPs) can submit documents to receive a housing rental subsidy. This assistance will be allocated to families most in need of financial support, similar to housing subsidies. It is important to note that these two payments can be received simultaneously.
The rental subsidy for IDPs is calculated individually. It takes into account the family's financial ability to pay rent and regional differences in rental costs.
Who can apply for the rental subsidy?
IDPs who have left occupied territories or combat zones and do not have their own housing in relatively safe regions, or whose housing has been destroyed or is uninhabitable, are eligible for the subsidy. Additionally, a condition is that a significant portion of their income, at least 20%, is spent on rent.
Rental subsidy will be denied if:
- the tenant and landlord are relatives;
- the tenant receives government assistance for living as an IDP;
- the landlord receives compensation under the "Shelter" program for the same property.
How to apply for the rental subsidy
Offline – at the service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) or at the administrative services center (CNAП).
Online – through the electronic service portal of the PFU or the mobile application (an electronic signature from both the tenant and the property owner is required).
What documents are needed?
To apply for the subsidy, you must submit:
- a rental agreement (in the established form);
- a statement (in the established form);
- if necessary – copies of documents confirming the authority of a legal representative, guardian, or other special characteristics.
Documents are submitted by both the tenant and the property owner. If the owner is in another region or abroad, the subsidy can be applied for online via the PFU web portal or mobile application, using an electronic signature.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported on how much the government compensates pensioners receiving the minimum pension if they apply for a subsidy. A portion of the utility costs will still need to be paid.
