Министры иностранных дел ЕС приняли решение о продлении антироссийских санкций еще на полгода.

On January 27, EU foreign ministers decided to extend economic sanctions against Russia for another six months. Hungary did not block this decision.

This was reported by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on social media platform X.

"Europe delivers: EU foreign ministers have just agreed to extend sanctions against Russia once again. This will continue to deprive Moscow of revenue to fund the war. Russia must pay for the harm they cause," the head of EU diplomacy wrote.

Journalist Rikard Jozwiak also reported on the extension of EU sanctions against the Kremlin.

Hungary, in particular, agreed today to support the extension of sanctions if the European Commission provides corresponding guarantees regarding the energy security of EU member states, especially in the event of threats from external factors.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced that the EU had provided the requested guarantees.

"Hungary received the requested guarantees regarding the energy security of our country. The European Commission has committed to protecting the pipelines and oil pipelines leading to EU member states," Szijjarto wrote on Facebook.

According to him, EU authorities indicated that "the integrity of the energy infrastructure that meets the needs of EU member states is a matter of security for the entire European Union."

"The European Commission also invites Ukraine to provide guarantees for the preservation of oil supplies to the EU," Szijjarto added.

As is known, the issue of extending EU sanctions against Russia was in question due to Hungary's threats to block the decision.

It is worth noting that last week, journalist Rikard Jozwiak reported that EU ambassadors were ready to extend economic sanctions against Russia on January 24. Hungary, initially, did not plan to block this decision.

On January 24, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban set conditions for Ukraine regarding the extension of EU sanctions against Russia, which related to the transit of Russian gas and oil.

Media reports indicated that Hungary would withdraw its threats to block EU sanctions against Russia due to Trump's position. Trump himself threatened Russia with new sanctions if Putin did not stop the war.
