The former Manchester City captain will face trial for assaulting his wife.

Evidence from the case reveals that Barton and his wife were consuming alcoholic beverages when a quarrel erupted between them.

As a result, Joey Barton struck his wife several times in the face. She was diagnosed with bruises and a broken nose.

During the trial, the former footballer denied any involvement in his wife's injuries but was unable to explain how they occurred.

The court found Barton responsible for the actions, and he is now awaiting sentencing after several more court sessions.

Joey Barton played for Manchester City from 2002 to 2007, appearing in 150 matches and scoring 15 goals.
