Starmer emphasized that he is acutely aware of the responsibility associated with the potential risk to British servicemen. At the same time, he highlighted that any involvement in ensuring Ukraine's security also contributes to the safety of Britain and the entire continent.

“Britain is ready to take a leading role in accelerating efforts towards security guarantees for Ukraine. This includes additional support for the Ukrainian army, as Britain has already pledged to allocate £3 billion annually until 2030,” he said.

Starmer noted that Britain could play a “unique role” in the peace process, acting as a bridge between Europe and the United States. He also stressed the importance of Ukraine’s participation in peace negotiations.

The British Prime Minister further underscored the necessity for European allies to discuss the potential establishment of an EU peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

It is worth recalling that Starmer had previously stated that Britain is ready to support a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

Additionally, according to media reports, European countries could provide up to 25,000 troops for a possible peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
