The Ukrainian military has exited the village of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region to avoid encirclement by the Russian army.
This was reported by Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the operational-strategic grouping of troops "Khortytsia," during a telethon on Monday, January 27.

According to him, Ukrainian troops are holding some positions closer to the outskirts of Velyka Novosilka.
“Currently, the Russians have entered a significant part of the settlement, while Ukrainians are maintaining certain lines to prevent the occupiers from advancing further,” the spokesperson explained.
Trehubov also added that the situation remains difficult in the Pokrovsk direction, where nearly half of the combat encounters are taking place. As noted by the spokesperson, the occupiers have not abandoned their plans to encircle Pokrovsk from the west.
Recall that on January 20, the OSHV "Khortytsia" reported that the Russian army is attempting to break through the defense in Velyka Novosilka, deploying significant resources there. Analysts warned of the risk of complete encirclement of the Defense Forces in the settlement.
And on January 23, the OSHV "Khortytsia" stated that in the Novopavlivsk direction, near Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region, there is a risk of operational encirclement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine units, although there is no talk of complete encirclement.
