Today, December 25, on Christmas, the Russian Federation launched yet another combined attack using ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. Once again, the targets of the attack were critical infrastructure, aiming to plunge Ukraine into darkness.
In total, the enemy utilized 184 long-range strike weapons. This included 50 air-launched X-101 cruise missiles, 12 sea-launched Kalibr cruise missiles, 4 guided X-59/69 missiles, 2 ballistic KN-23 missiles, and 10 anti-aircraft missiles from the S-300/400 systems, along with 106 long-range drones and decoys. Notably, some Russian missiles flew over Moldova, confirmed by the country's president, Maia Sandu, while the Air Force of Ukraine reported that their path also crossed over Romania.
According to the report from the Air Force Command, out of these, 59 cruise and guided missiles were destroyed, which accounts for 89%. Regarding the drones, 54 were shot down, and another 52 were "locally lost," meaning all 106 drones were neutralized. Ballistic and anti-aircraft missiles were not intercepted.
As for the consequences of the attacks, local authorities and other official sources reported the following at the time of publication. One of the apparent targets of the enemy's strikes was a thermal power plant in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, resulting in part of the region being without electricity. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported at 11:30 that the fire at an unnamed critical infrastructure facility had been extinguished. A total of 114 rescuers and 36 units of equipment were involved in the firefighting efforts.
Overall, as reported by NEC "Ukrenergo," measures to limit consumption have been implemented, which will last throughout the day until the restoration work is completed.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, one person has died, and there are damaged facilities in Dnipro itself. The mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov, stated that "there are certain serious problems," but preparations were made for the shelling, preventing the worst-case scenario.
In the Poltava region, energy infrastructure was damaged, leading to temporary power outages in the Kremenchuk district. In Kyiv region, debris damaged several private houses and cars in two districts. In Kharkiv, as a result of a series of about 10 strikes, civilian non-residential infrastructure was damaged, and one person was injured. In the Kirovohrad region, a fire broke out in a warehouse, which has been extinguished.
Let us remind you that the previous similar mass combined attack took place on December 13, 2024, and it was record-breaking with the use of 287 missiles and drones.
