After the situation in Syria shifted unfavorably for the Russian Federation, the issue of "evacuating" their weapons and military equipment became pressing for the Russians. As emphasized by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Russians are still transporting equipment by air. Furthermore, Russian military personnel have been ordered to simply destroy any weapons that require repairs.
The GUR MOU also reminds us that the Russians do not have the capacity to transport military hardware by ship, as Syria does not grant them permission to enter the port of Tartus. Notably, Rear Admiral Valery Varfolomeev attempted to seek "the green light" earlier this week, but was denied participation in the negotiations.
According to GUR MOU, the external raid of the port of Tartus currently hosts the cargo ship Sparta, as well as the large landing ship of project 11711, named "Ivan Gren," along with the large landing ship of project 775, "Alexander Otrakovsky." The Russians are experiencing issues with the water desalinator on the latter, as well as leaks from two fuel tanks.
Previously, satellite images from the Tartus airbase were published by MT_Anderson on their social media account X, where the cargo ship Sparta was visible, along with one of the landing ships and two additional vessels.
Interestingly, two vessels can be seen in the port, which the author speculates are likely commercial, but they are located precisely where weapons were previously unloaded and loaded.
Earlier, Defense Express reported that the Russian Federation removed the only submarine equipped for "Kalibr" missiles from Tartus in Syria.
