In the summer, Israel did not receive nearly 2,000 bombs from the U.S., as the ban was lifted by Trump.

The resumption of supplies for several types of weaponry to Israel is one of the many decisions made by Trump immediately following his inauguration.

The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has already made a series of anticipated and unexpected decisions following his inauguration, one of which was to order the lifting of the ban on supplying Israel with 925 kg bombs, a supply that had been suspended by the previous US President, Joe Biden.

This pertains to MK-84 (Mark 84) bombs, with an estimated quantity of around 1800 units, which were prohibited for delivery to the IDF about seven months ago, in July 2024, due to concerns over the critical consequences that could arise if the Israeli military were to use them in the Gaza Strip. Despite this, the US continued to supply Israel with 230 kg Mark 82 bombs, as noted by Reuters.

It is emphasized that the decision to lift the ban on bomb supplies to Israel is an expected one. "They paid for them [the bombs] and have been waiting for a long time. They were in storage," Trump commented on his decision. He also noted that Israel had paid for "many things" that were not delivered by President Biden, and now "they are on the way."

The resumption of bomb supplies to the IDF comes against the backdrop of Israel announcing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip last week, contingent upon Hamas agreeing to exchange hostages. Earlier, Trump had warned that if Hamas did not return the hostages, they would face "hellish retribution."

Previously, Defense Express reported that the Israeli Defense Ministry announced the signing of a contract for the purchase of interceptors for the Iron Dome missile defense systems, which is being financed with funds from American aid.
