Russia launched 91 missiles and 97 drones, including "Caliber" missiles equipped with cluster munitions.

For the first time, the enemy has used the "Kalibr" missiles equipped with cluster munitions; prior to this, since June of this year, such characteristics were observed with the X-101 missiles.

On November 28, the Russian Federation launched yet another long-range attack using cruise missiles and drones against Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure in the southern and western regions. According to reports from the Air Force Command, a total of 188 long-range strike assets were deployed by the enemy, including 91 missiles of various types and 97 drones.

The primary means of attack were, as usual, cruise missiles: 57 Kh-101 and 28 Kalibr, totaling 85 units, of which it was reported that 76 were intercepted. Additionally, the enemy launched three guided Kh-59 missiles, which were shot down, as well as three surface-to-air missiles from the S-300 system in the Kharkiv region (none were intercepted). Regarding drones, 35 out of 97 UAVs of different types were shot down, while another 62 were "locationally lost."

Thus, according to the report from the Air Force Command, the interception efficiency for cruise and guided missiles was 89.7%. The effectiveness against drones reached 100%. This means that only 9 Russian cruise missiles of the Kh-101 and Kalibr types and 3 surface-to-air missiles caused damage.

At the same time, this attack differed from previous ones in that the Russian Federation used Kalibr cruise missiles equipped with cluster munitions, which targeted civilian objects. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported their use.

From the perspective of Defense Express, it should be noted that cluster munitions on cruise missiles first appeared on the Kh-101. The first such cruise missile was shot down in early June 2024. With a high degree of probability, the enemy used the same solution for the Kalibr missiles.

It is important to remember that this means that in the areas of interception, falling, and impact of such missiles, fragmentary submunitions may be scattered, posing a danger. These are metal balls approximately 10 cm in diameter. They may have a self-destruction mechanism, meaning they can explode at any moment. Therefore, if found, it is essential to notify the State Emergency Service or the police.
