President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree dismissing Andrii Kostin from the position of Attorney General.
Decree No. 745/2024 was made public today on the president's website.
“Dismiss Kostin Andrii Yevhenovych from the position of Attorney General”, the text states.
Yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada gave its consent for the dismissal of the Attorney General, with 255 members of parliament supporting the decision.
It’s worth noting that Andrii Kostin was appointed Attorney General in July 2022. He resigned amid a scandal involving prosecutors obtaining disability status.
According to UP, the President's Office has not yet decided on a candidate for the new Attorney General position. For now, the duties will be performed by First Deputy Oleksii Khomeiko.
