The authorities are already working on bringing Ukrainians back from abroad. Soon, the government will establish targeted departments in other countries, starting with Germany and Poland.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with the leaders of territorial communities and districts in Transcarpathia on October 31.
According to Zelensky, the foundations of migration policy will be outlined in the internal Victory Plan that is currently being developed. At the same time, the government plans to strengthen its presence abroad.
To achieve this, the government is creating special departments that will represent human capital. In particular, two offices will be established in Poland and Germany.
“There will be employment programs in Ukraine because these people have lost even their informational connections. They need a place to gather and receive information not just from the internet,” the president said.
He described the return of Ukrainians as a complex issue.
“Leaders and countries want only those Ukrainians who are working to remain, and they are looking for ways to make those who are not working return to Ukraine. This part of the population will come back because social payments will disappear. Countries will stop helping them as soon as their societies begin to support this,” Zelensky noted.
At the same time, he stated that it is clear that some Ukrainians are waiting for the war to end before returning when the economic situation improves.
Recall that in the summer, Zelensky urged Ukrainian refugees not to wait for the war to end and to return now. According to a social survey, a quarter of Ukrainian refugees in Europe plan to stay abroad forever.
