The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, during which he announced the transfer of an additional 3 billion dollars to Kyiv.
Zelensky shared the details of the conversation on Telegram.
“I am grateful for the Japanese government's decision to allocate an additional 3 billion dollars to Ukraine, secured by frozen Russian assets, and for the additional support for energy equipment and shelter construction,” Zelensky noted.
He also expressed gratitude to the Japanese people for their extensive humanitarian and financial assistance totaling 12 billion dollars.
The President informed the head of the Japanese government about the massive shelling by Russia of Ukraine's energy infrastructure on Christmas night.
Recall that on December 24, Ukraine received the first tranche from the USA as part of a loan based on frozen Russian assets. Earlier, Zelensky reported how much of the income from frozen Russian assets will go to support the defense industry.
In October, the European Parliament supported allocating up to 35 billion euros to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets.
