In Lviv, one of the streets has been renamed in honor of the slain Ukrainian MP Iryna Farion.

The relevant decision was made during a city council meeting on November 28, as reported by council member Lyubomyr Melnychuk on Facebook.

Shmyhal responded to the petition for posthumously awarding Farion the title of "Hero of Ukraine"The Ministry of Education's award commission will consider the petition to posthumously grant Iryna Farion the title of Hero of Ukraine.

Previously, this was Technical Street, located between the main building of the "Lviv Polytechnic," where Farion worked, and Ivan Franko Park.

It is known that the "Svoboda" faction insisted on the renaming, and in total, 43 city council deputies supported the decision.

"A very symbolic place, and it is extremely important that it will now bear the legendary name of Iryna Farion," wrote Melnychuk.

The suspect in the murder was detained a week later in Dnipro, identified as 18-year-old Vyacheslav Zinchenko. On November 13, Zinchenko’s preventive measure was extended for another two months in the form of detention.
