The High Anti-Corruption Court acquitted former Member of Parliament Alexander Dolzhenkov of charges related to the misappropriation of 700,000 hryvnias in housing rental compensation in Kyiv. The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office will appeal this ruling.
This is stated in the text of the VAC's verdict dated February 28, which is available to “Slovo i Delo,” and confirmed by the SAP press service, without naming the individual involved.
“To recognize Alexander Valeryevich Dolzhenkov as not guilty of committing the criminal offense provided for in part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and to acquit him due to the absence of a criminal offense in his actions,” the verdict states.
At the same time, the SAP claims that they disagree with this court decision and are preparing an appeal.
“The SAP prosecutor will appeal the VAC verdict from February 28, 2025, which found the former MP not guilty of committing the criminal offense provided for in part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The SAP prosecutor disagrees with the court's decision and will defend their position in the appellate court,” the prosecutor's office informs.
Recall that NABU and SAP have once again reported suspicions against ex-MP Alexander Dolzhenkov. According to the investigation, from April 2015 to December 2018, he unlawfully received budget compensation for housing rental from the Office of the Verkhovna Rada, which was allocated to MPs who did not own housing in the capital. The deputy concealed the existence of his own apartment in Pechersk and illegally received 700,280 UAH on his card over nearly two and a half years. It was only after a journalistic investigation by the Schemes program that the deputy refused to accept these payments. Recently, the investigation into the case was concluded.
