As of the end of October, the status of mobilization exemptions applies to 906 thousand military personnel.
This was reported by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko in an interview with Forbes.
According to her, despite public statements on the subject, the actual number of exemptions has never exceeded 950 thousand individuals.
“At our peak, we had 950,000 ‘unique exemptions.’ When the exemption process was introduced via ‘Diia,’ at one point the statistics rose to 1.049 million people, but this was due to duplication, as some companies submitted documents both in paper and electronically at the same time,” the official stated.
She added that the Cabinet is currently conducting an audit of exemptions at the initiative of the Ministry of Defense. Changes in the criteria for determining the critical status of enterprises are expected as a result of this audit.
“We frequently meet with businesses, and they report that the average salary of those exempted is around 19,000 and above. Therefore, the businesses we engage with say they wouldn’t mind this figure being officially higher and reflecting the actual situation,” Svyrydenko declared.
Recall that in early October, media reported that the Cabinet had suspended the exemption of employees from mobilization allegedly due to President Zelensky's stance. It was claimed that the head of state “was outraged that 1.5 million” military personnel had been exempted.
On October 20, it became officially known that the exemption process for employees in “Diia” was closed until November 15. However, just a few days prior, the Cabinet approved a partial resumption of exemptions.
