Ukraine is developing a new missile called "Trembita," which will be capable of reaching the capital of Russia, Moscow. The development of this new weapon is already at the final stage of testing
This information comes from The Economist, citing Ukrainian military officials.
It is noted that "Trembita" is a modern cruise missile that utilizes a remake of the pulse jet engine, first used in the German V-1 bomb in 1944.
The basic version of "Trembita" flies at a speed of 400 km/h and has a range of 200 km. A larger and more powerful model is being developed to reach Moscow.
"It is unknown how long Ukraine can expect large-scale foreign military assistance. Therefore, 'Trembita' is one of several missile projects that Ukraine hopes will stimulate the revival of the domestic industry,” the report states.
Additionally, according to media reports, the missile was developed in just a year and a half, even though such processes typically take many years.
The missile is being designed with an emphasis on low cost and high mobility. This allows "Trembita" to effectively deplete the enemy's air defense.
"A senior security official states that the country needs at least a year to produce missiles with the quantity, range, and capabilities that would pose a serious threat to Russia,” military officials note.
It is reported that the development of "Trembita" is a response to Ukraine's limited ability to utilize foreign long-range missiles.
As previously mentioned, in August, President Zelensky announced the successful testing of the first Ukrainian ballistic missile. Series production of drone missiles “Palyanitsa” and “Peklo” has also begun.
Recall that earlier, “Slovo i Delo” reported on how the production and supply of drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine have increased.
