The EU has provided Ukraine with the first tranche of 3 billion euros from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be allocated to priority budget expenditures.
This was announced on Friday by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal via Telegram.
"3 billion euros have been credited to the state budget of Ukraine from the EU under the ERA initiative. This is the first tranche of funds from the European Union, secured by income from frozen Russian assets,” he wrote.
According to the Prime Minister, Ukraine will utilize this resource for priority budgetary needs.
Overall, the G7 ERA initiative, as he noted, aims to allocate 50 billion dollars to Ukraine, of which 20 billion dollars will come from the European Union.
Recall that on December 24, Ukraine received the first tranche from the USA as part of a loan against frozen Russian assets. In total, the USA will provide Ukraine with 15 billion dollars from Russian assets.
Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky shared details on how much of the income from frozen RF assets will go to support the defense industry.
