The hands of the Doomsday Clock have been moved one second forward. Now, there are 89 seconds left until midnight.
This was reported by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (a magazine that has been monitoring the Doomsday Clock since 1947).

This marks the closest point to global war in the 78 years of the project's existence. Scientists consider the primary threats to humanity to be the war in Ukraine and conflicts in the Middle East.
As is known, in 2024, the Doomsday Clock was not adjusted, and its readings remained at the level of 2023 - 90 seconds to midnight. In 2023, the clock was moved forward by 10 seconds, largely due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and the risk of nuclear escalation.
