Colonel Roman Kachur will lead the National Academy of Land Forces named after Sahaidachny. The decision was made on Sunday, January 19.
This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
It is known that a survey regarding the new head of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Sahaidachny has concluded in the "Army+" app. Among the candidates were Brigadier Generals Sergey Baranov and Mykhailo Sydorenko, as well as Colonels Yevhen Lasyichuk, Oleksandr Bakulin, and Roman Kachur.
Colonel Roman Kachur received the most votes.
“He knows the front well; he commanded the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade. I spoke with Colonel Kachur – he understands what needs to change in military education and specifically in the National Academy of Land Forces,” Zelensky shared.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, has already signed the order for Colonel Kachur’s appointment at the President's request. His key tasks will include:
- conducting a complete audit of the Academy's operations;
- implementing reforms in military education;
- improving the quality of training for soldiers, officers, and sergeants.
Recall that on December 18, 2025, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine dismissed the head of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Petro Sahaidachny, Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk.
In March, MP Yuliya Yatsyk reported on a collective complaint from cadets of the National Academy of Land Forces against Tkachuk. According to her, members of the investigation commission held a series of anonymous discussions with cadets from different courses. Cadets expressed complaints about the lack of essential medicines in the medical station, poor nutrition, and the need to contribute funds for paper, cleaning supplies, and other necessities. They also stated that bullying was present in the institution.
