Президент США Дональд Трамп заявил о выходе Соединенных Штатов из Всемирной организации здравоохранения и Парижского климатического соглашения.

In the initial hours of his new presidential term, Donald Trump signed an executive order for the United States to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization (WHO).

This was reported by CNN and the White House website.

Trump took the oath and officially became the President of the USARepublican Donald Trump took the oath and officially became the 47th president of the United States of America.

It is noted that this is the second instance where Trump has initiated the U.S. exit from an international pact aimed at combating global warming.

The first attempt occurred in 2017, but it was revoked by Joe Biden on the first day of his presidency in 2021.

It is important to mention that the Paris Climate Agreement is an international pact designed to limit global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The media remind us that although the Paris Agreement is not legally binding, it serves as a crucial document encouraging global cooperation to address the causes of global warming.

According to the procedure, the U.S. will have to wait a year for the official withdrawal.

Additionally, the new U.S. leader severed ties with the public health agency of the UN on the first day of his new term.

The executive order cites "poor management of the organization during the Covid-19 pandemic, which originated in Wuhan, China, and other global health crises, its inability to implement urgently needed reforms, and its failure to demonstrate independence from unacceptable political influence by member states" as reasons for the U.S. exit from WHO.

Trump, referring to his decision and belief that the U.S. pays disproportionately large contributions compared to other countries, stated that "this is a significant decision."

The new president's order also notes that WHO continues to unjustly demand excessive payments from the U.S.

The withdrawal of the United States from WHO will deprive the organization of a major source of funding, as the country contributes about 16% of its budget. This could impact WHO's ability to respond to health crises.

It is worth noting that the UN awaited Trump’s return to the presidency with "concern" and fears funding cuts.

Recall that recently Trump announced that immediately after taking office, he would impose new tariffs on all imported goods from China, Mexico, and Canada.

It is already known that Trump pardoned individuals accused of participating in the riots on January 6, 2021, when his supporters illegally entered the Capitol.
