The situation in the Vremivka direction is complex; however, it is still too early to discuss the potential encirclement of Ukrainian troops.
This was reported by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladislav Voloshin, in a comment to Ukrinform.
On December 14, Deep State wrote that Ukrainian fighters in Makarovka near Bolshaya Novoselka in the so-called Vremivka bulge might be at risk of encirclement. On December 23, the Southern Defense Forces noted that it is premature to speak of the encirclement of troops, although the situation remains tense.
According to Voloshin, Russian troops have been conducting over 40 assault actions daily in the Vremivka direction for several days. Specifically, on December 22, there were 44 assaults, and today, December 23, 44 attempts by the enemy to break through Ukrainian defenses have already been recorded.
“The enemy is attempting to bypass Novoselka from the eastern flank and even from the north. At the same time, the Southern Defense Forces are aware of these intentions, are conducting active defense, and implementing stabilization measures, so it is premature to speak of any encirclement,” Voloshin explained.
Additionally, the Russian army is suffering significant losses, with defenders eliminating about 200 occupiers and dozens of enemy vehicles each day.
“Yesterday, 8 tanks and up to one and a half dozen armored vehicles were destroyed. Today – 4 tanks and up to 5 armored fighting vehicles. Our defenders are destroying their forces that are trying to penetrate our defenses where possible and are actively engaging in combat to restore their positions,” Voloshin added.
Recall that on November 12, it was reported that the Russian command changed its tactics for assault actions in the Vremivka direction of the Donetsk region.
In December, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also commented on the information regarding the alleged encirclement of fighters near Kurakhove.
