The Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz visited Ukraine today, December 2, for the first time in two and a half years. This marks his second visit since the onset of the full-scale war.
This information was reported by Spiegel and other German media outlets.
Upon his arrival in Kyiv, he announced that Germany would continue to support Ukraine and promised swift deliveries of weapons.
"During my meeting with President Zelensky, I will announce additional arms worth 650 million euros, which are set to be delivered in December. We say what we do. And we do what we say," Scholz stated.
The last time the Chancellor visited Ukraine was four months after the full-scale war began, in June 2022, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and then-Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
It is worth noting that recently Scholz spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky. They discussed strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system, and the Chancellor also revealed details of his recent call to the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Scholz called Putin on November 15. He described this move as necessary but acknowledged that Putin has not changed his views on the war in Ukraine. Zelensky criticized the Chancellor's call.
