It is noted that the Senate vote took place a few hours after Trump's inauguration. The Senate approved the nomination by a majority vote.

Rubio's nomination for Secretary of State was supported by all senators from both the Republican and Democratic parties (99 "yes" votes), with none voting against the appointment.

Rubio previously served as a Republican senator from Florida since 2011. His nomination for Secretary of State received strong backing from Senate Democrats, many of whom considered their colleague highly qualified for the role.

After the Senate vote on his nomination, Rubio stated that it was a "great honor" to be unanimously confirmed by his peers.

"I hope this is because they know me, and I understand that most of them voted for me because they thought I would do a good job, and perhaps some because they wanted to get rid of me. But joking aside, this is a great honor... this is important work at an important time, and I am grateful for it," he said.

Media outlets remind us that the new Secretary of State opposes normalizing relations with Cuba and is a well-known critic of China.

Additionally, we previously reported that Rubio voiced his stance on ways to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

Furthermore, we noted that the elected U.S. president delivered an inaugural speech in which he did not mention Russia's war against Ukraine.

According to media reports, Trump instructed to organize a phone call with Putin in the early days following the inauguration.
