Since the start of the full-scale war until August 1, 2024, 41 generals have been discharged from military service due to health reasons.
This information was provided by the Main Directorate of Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in response to a request from Radio Liberty.
“According to information provided by the Personnel Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the following is reported: during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine, from February 24, 2022, to August 1, 2024, 41 individuals have been discharged from military service due to health reasons,” the response stated regarding how many generals were discharged based on the conclusions of military medical commissions.
It is worth noting that in May, President Vladimir Zelensky discharged former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi due to health reasons. In July, Zaluzhnyi began his role as ambassador to the UK.
According to MP Marianna Bezuhla, former commander of the Joint Forces, General Yurii Sodoli resigned from the army through a military medical commission.
