A Christmas tree will be installed in Sofia Square in Kyiv. The setup will begin on December 2, with the grand opening traditionally scheduled for St. Nicholas Day on December 6.
This was announced by the mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko.
The installation and arrangement of the Christmas tree in Sofia Square were approved by the Kyiv Defense Council. The tree will be in the square from December 2 until January 10.
As in previous years during the full-scale war, the tree will be installed exclusively with the funds from sponsors without using budget money.
The installation will be carried out by LLC “Global Decor,” which will handle both the setup and dismantling work, as well as the maintenance of the tree. A photo zone with QR codes for charity funds and several booths for selling souvenir products will be set up near the tree. No mass events, fairs, or other entertainment are planned in Sofia Square.
Overall, Klitschko noted that Christmas and New Year celebrations in Kyiv will again take place without large gatherings and events, fairs, and entertainment, in compliance with safety requirements and restrictions on electricity use.
