Украинская спортсменка Ярослава Магучих была признана лучшей легкоатлеткой года в Европе, получив олимпийское золото, побив мировой рекорд и выиграв бриллиантовую лигу в 2024 году.

Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh has been awarded the title of Best Female Athlete in Europe for 2024 by the European Athletics Awards.

This was announced during the live broadcast of the “Athlete of the Year 2024” awards ceremony.

The 23-year-old Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh was recognized as the best female athlete of the year in Europe. Other nominees for this award included Femke Bol, Sifan Hassan, Emese Ogunleye, Nadia Battocletti, Nafissatou Thiam, Keely Hodgkinson, Malaika Mihambo, Natalia Kaczmarek, and Sirena Samba-Maïla.

This year, Mahuchikh became an Olympic champion in high jump, broke the world record, won the European Championship, and claimed victory in the Diamond League.

It is noted that Mahuchikh received the top award from European Athletics for the first time in her career. In the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the Ukrainian was a finalist in the nomination but did not become a laureate.

Recall that in August, Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh became the Olympic champion in high jump and secured the second gold medal for Ukraine at the Olympics-2024. The Ukrainian cleared the 2-meter mark on her first attempt.

In September, Mahuchikh won gold in high jump at the Diamond League final in Brussels. This marks her third consecutive year as the winner of the competition.
